Isidro had his first taste of entrepreneurship at university, where he created a junior enterprise. After graduating as an Engineer from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, he moved into engineering activities, working with Geographic Information Systems and design tools before becoming a strategic consultant to high-level executives (CEOs of large corporations), mainly in the telco and media sector.

Isidro’s objectives for the Policy Fellowship are to share views on policy measures to strengthen the environment for web entrepreneurs in Europe; to learn new ways of policy making better adapted to an era of extremely rapid change that characterise the web startups; and to access international knowledge and best practices related to policies for web startups.

JUHAN LEPASSAAR | Head of Cabinet for Vice-President Andrus Ansip, responsible for the Digital Single Market

Juhan Lepassaar, a 38-year-old Estonian, is currently Head of Cabinet for Vice-President Andrus Ansip, responsible for the Digital Single Market. Mr Lepassaar joined the European Commission in 2013 as Member of Cabinet for Vice-President Siim Kallas, Commissioner for Transport.

Before joining the Commission, he was Director for EU affairs at the Government Office of Estonia and an EU adviser to the Prime Minister for five years.

He has been working at the Government Office since 2000 dealing with Estonia’s European Union policy in different roles.

Juhan Lepassaar studied interior design, architecture and political science and has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Sussex in Contemporary European Politics.

MARÍA SANSIGRE | Investment Director at Demeter Partners

Maria Sansigre is an industrial engineer with experience in technology including wind onshore, district heating and cooling networks, biomass , energy efficiency, data center projects and a particular expertise in Green IT. She is specialized in energy technologies from Escuela Politécnica Superior Universidad Carlos III of Madrid and holds a specialization in venture capital from IEB (Instituto de Estudios Bursatiles).

Maria possesses both engineering and investment talents. Currently, she is Investment Director at Demeter Partners. Her investment experience also includes assessing start-ups and companies across Europe and Israel for public subsidies and holds a position as an external investment expert on the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 R&D program. Before joining Demeter Partners, Maria has worked 11 years as engineer and consultant in the energy and IT sectors, in companies and technology centers such as Iberdrola, IBM and IREC (Catalonia Institute for Energy Research), among others.

MATEUSZ NOWAK | Partner at Mazovia Capital

Responsible for growing VC arm of the business at Mazovia Capital

Mr. Nowak for most of his professional career was an advisor with PwC Advisory services, where he supported his clients in Commercial Due Diligence, Corporate Strategy Development and Innovation Strategy development and R&D commercialization efforts.

Mr. Nowak flagship project at PwC was serving as initiator and leader of PwC Startup Collider, a corporate FinTech resident acceleration program run across 5 countries in CEE.

In 2015, Mr. Nowak co-founded Technology Entrepreneurship Foundation which obtained a license to run MIT Enterprise Forum Poland acceleration program directed at supporting deep technology startups. The Foundation still runs MITEF Poland accelerator and plans to expand to a more regional program with MassChallenge.

From 2010, Mr. Nowak was an activist in an innovation ecosystem running events for the community via TEDxWarsaw, TEDxWarsawPresidentialPalace, Ignite Warsaw and TechCrunch Let’s meet up events.  During this time, over 250 innovators and thought leaders were promoted by different teams with Mr. Nowak’s’ support.

JUANMA ROMERO | Editor & Host of the TV Shows at Emprende RTVE

Editor and host of the TV shows “Emprende” and “Emprende Digital”, in La 1 and Canal 24 Horas. Juanma Romero is specialist in social skills and personal magnetism. Between 2004 and 2016 he has received 23 national and international awards because of his entrepreneurship support. Romero, in addition, is co-author of ‘Píldoras para emprender’.

He also imparts workshops, seminars and presentations about personal magnetism, personal brand, public speaking, mass media visibility, successful entrepreneur and spokesperson training. His knowledge of the mass media has let him to have been interviewed in more than one thousand radio stations, one to one, during two years.Juanma Romero is Professor of the Master’s Degree in Digital Innovation and Technology (Innovación Digital y Tecnología) at IE Business School. He is also Professor at Deusto Business School training spokespeople and communication in radio and television.

Esteban Mayoral is in charge of Impulsa Visión, the audiovisual entrepreneurs´ support program of the Public Corporation. RTVE´s LEAR before the European Commission for the Research & Development H2020 Programs and member of the RTVE-Royal Engineering Academy Permanent Commission for the Observatory of Digital Transformation in the Audiovisual Industry.

JOSÉ MARÍA TORREGO | Director at El Referente

José Torrego, founder and CEO of the journal, graduate in Journalism in Francisco de Vitoria University, and with a masters degree in Marketing and Commercial Management in ESIC Business School. He worked in the journals La Razón and As before establishing his own company when he was 25 years old. He successfully managed to allocate El Referente as a journal for university students, in a market niche specialised in entrepreneurs, now leading this sector in Spain. He is responsible for the general management and the commercial area (product and publishing strategy) of the journal.

El Referente is a digital newspaper that has evolved to become the go-to place for news in the spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem. Available through the website or mobile app, the newspaper offers entrepreneurs a new and collaborative way of connecting and obtaining information regarding the national ecosystem. In 2016, El Referente launched the first Startup Guide to investment in Spain.

ALEJANDRO TOSINA | Director of Digital Economy at red.es

Telecommunication engineer and MBA. Digital Economy Director at red.es.

The new Director of Digital Economy in red.es, Alejandro Tosina, is a licensed telecommunications engineer from the University of Seville, with an executive MBA and master in Economy and Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

For the majority of his career he has worked in the Centre for Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) where he currently holds the position of Auditor within R&D and Digitalization. Throughout his 12 years in this institution he has participated in the administration of the innovation programs, general strategy and business processes of the Centre, as well as being the Spanish delegate of the 7th “Programa Marco” of R&D in the European Union.

Currently he also is a Senior Assessor in the Royal Academy of Engineering. His main goal within red.es is to guarantee the best performance of their programs to impulse the digitalization of SMEs to boost growth and their internationalization.

He is proficient in operations management, marketing, law, economic management and information analysis, and has extensive experience in project management. In step with the latest technological breakthroughs, he tries to connect to new sources of innovation and disruptive technology, in both professional and entrepreneurial environments.
