Degree in Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, having also studied journalism at CEU-San Pablo University and in the USA. As a journalist Andrés has worked the majority of his career at the news information agency EFE, the fourth largest news agency in the world and the leading one in the Spanish language.
EFE distributes almost 3 million pieces of news a year in various news formats: text, photographs, audio, video and multimedia, reaching more than 2,000 news media organizations in the world every day.
In addition to Agencia EFE, Andrés has worked at several magazines; mainly related to computer and music; at the Spanish Navy’s Press Office; at the Institute of Business Development; at infoempleo.com; and as head of International Communication at the Mapfre insurance company.
At EFE, Andrés has been posted to Oviedo, Zaragoza and Madrid, being part of the International, Sports, National, Documentation, and Economy Deparments. After writing about health and social affairs, defense, events and law and politics, since 2005 he has focused on business news.
At the Economy Deparment, he was head of the Companies, Finance and Markets sections and multimedia coordinator of the department during the crisis. He has had a leading role in the digital transformation of EFE, creating websites such Efeempresas.com, Efeemprende.com and Efemotor.com. He is a board member of the Association of Economy Journalists (APIE) and co-author of the economics book “Diccionario de Finanzas Claras” (Finance Dictionary).
